Revealed: How Chelsea convinced teenage striker Marc Guiu to snub Barcelona’s offer and make the jump to the Premier League

      Guiu, who made his senior debut for the Catalan giants in the 2023/24 campaign, scored twice in seven first-team appearances last season. However, the Blues have now managed to secure the 18-year-old’s signature on a five-year contract until 2029. The deal includes the option of a further 12 months to run until 2030.

    According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan side tried to convince the player to stay at the club and were even willing to increase his wages to €2m (£1.7m), however, the player refused as he wanted to move to England for a different experience. The report adds that the Blues assured him of regular game time, something he would not have seen at Barcelona due to the presence of Robert Lewandowski in attack.
