Sources familiar with the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, politics, have disclosed that Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN) is leading in the association’s national election to elect the next president of the body.
The sources said Osigwe’s lead may be difficult for other candidates to surpass.
Osigwe and his main contenders have reportedly divided their votes in Lagos, where they have strong support due to the high number of registered voters in the state.
The winner of the polls will succeed the outgoing president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN).
Others contesting in the presidential category are the Chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, Tobenna Erojikwe, and the former NBA Lagos Branch Chairman, Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN).
However, earlier, Ikwuazom, withdrew from the race.
In a statement on Saturday, said the process has been set for a predetermined outcome.
